"Richard Matheson's Hellhouse" is a 4 issue bimonthly 48 page B&W adaption of the well known novel. It's been adapted by Ian Edgington and drawn in glorious monochrome by myself, with 4 covers in full colour. It's published by IDW and the first issue hit the shops in December 2004. If you missed that then I'm told that there will be a nice hardback collected edition in October 2005-ish. It looks damned good even if I do say so myself. IDWs production values are excellent and I think it reads well. We got some great reviews too, so it's not just me.
Due to the somewhat controversial nature of the subject matter ( those of you who know the novel will know what I'm talking about here ) certain images have had to be toned down to allow the book to be more easily sold in the American market. I'm not arguing with the choices that had to be made here, hypocricy is a fact of life in our culture and certain compromises had to be made to allow certain kinds of people to feel morally superior and allow us to publish this comic and distribute it more or less as we wanted. Pictures of male genitalia are apparently not acceptable, but zombie rape on the other hand......oops, small spoiler there!
