| The Cadre
Infernal Progs 1134-1137 Dante is invited with his half sister Lulu to a meeting of the 'Cadre Infernal' of which she is a member. The meeting takes place in a palace in the heart of Venice. Dante and Lulu arrive during the Carnival and Dante saves a girl from a pair of drunken aristocrats. A Captain Emmanuel introduces himself. Dante is next seen in the meeting itself a den of debauchery and vice practiced by the rich and the powerful. He meets Camilla Le Fanu , the High Priestess of the cult who is bathing in human blood. Le Fanu suggest that Dante go with her friend Countess Magda Hollo, the dominatrix of Dusseldorf, for some 'discipline'. Dante is taken to a basement dungeon and Hollo tries to manacle him to a torture frame. Dante slips out of the bonds however and manacles the dominatrix instead. He leaves her in the basement and goes outside. He broods over the recent death of his wife Eloise. |
| Suddenly Dante is seized by a group of armed cultists led by Captain Emmanuel and accused of the grisly murder of Hollo. Lulu enters vengefully and sends a storm of her cybernetic deamons that engulf Dante and seemingly devour him, throwing his body out into the lagoon. Lulu is commended by Le Fanu for executing Dante, but all are shocked by her seeming enthusiasm to execute him without trial. |
| Dante washes up
on a rocky shore where Lulu comes to pick him up in a
gondola. At first angry at Lulu for seemingly trying to
kill him, he calms down a bit when she explains him that
it was her strategy to protect him from the Cadre and
almost certain imprisonment. Her cyber deamons in fact
did him little harm. The 2 return to the scene of the
crime where Dante discovers a hidden camera and a secret
passage. The Passage leads to a deeper dungeon which
contains a huge rack of suspended girls being bled to
provide the blood for Le Fanus bath. Dante sees a video
replay of Le Fanu murdering Hollo. Le Fanu attacks and
the 2 fight grimly until Dante eventually overpowers the
vampyric High Priestess. However Le Fanu protest her
innocence to the end. Dante suddenly finds himself in the
centre of a crowd of Cadre members who applaud his action
in killing Le Fanu. Dante is confused as to how they were
tipped off to what was happening, Lulu explains it all
later after she is enthroned as the Cadre's new High
Priestess. Lulu framed Le Fanu and tricked Dante into
killing her, thereby securing the leadership of the Cadre
Infernal and a valuable intelligence gathering arm for
the Dynasty. Lulu had killed Hollo herself, but faked the
video footage. Dante stands alone at the end feeling used. |

In the nick of time they manage to board the Trans-Siberian Express which heads towards Romanov territory in luxurious style. Dante and the Firebird relax in the honemoon suite where she explains how hard her life of adulation and fame has become and they both commiserate over the fact that their erswhile love interests, Jena and Deriabin, are now getting married to each other. Yet another of Dantes billboards in seen in the background. Suddenly the Train comes under attack from the heavily armed Danse Macabre, intent apon retreiving their star. There is a fight in the Honeymoon suite and then the 2 are forced into running the gauntlet along the roof of the train itself. The Danse Macabre derail the train , throwing Dante and the Firebird into the snow and at the mercy of their assailants. Just then Dimitri and Konstantine Romanov appear and swiftly dispatch the murderous danse troupe. Dante and the Firebird have made it to Romanov territory, but things are not as they seem. The whole affair had ben orchestrated in advance by Dimitri in an effort to let the Firebird defect to the Romanof Dynasty and assume her position as head of the Romanovs newly aquired media empire. Dantes intervention had been a trifle more spectacular than expected, but the result was the same. Dante is again left with the feeling of being manipulated. |

Katarina, his mother, and unmasks himself. She is shocked
and lets Dante escape with the slaves. Katarina and her first mate Marguerite Dumas watch as Dantes boat disappears, speculating on the nature of her abandoned son. Just what kind of a man has he become? |

Jenas' surname should be 'Makarova', but the mistake has
been made now so we are kind of stuck with it )
